Emergency birthday card - Sweet Ice Cream

This month has whizzed by and it’s time for our team blog hop again. I called this an ‘Emergency birthday card’ as I only had half an hour to make it before I saw the friend whose birthday it was - oops!

The Sweet Ice Cream suite is brilliant for all ages, and by using the DSP as the focus it really was a very quick and effective make. 

To create this card, I cut an A4 piece of Old Olive in half lengthways and folded it to make a tent fold card base.

Next, I took a piece of Basic White measuring 105x148mm and stamped the sentiments from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set at the top using Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss ink. I covered the bottom portion of the white panel with DSP and covered the join with a piece of Blackberry Bliss ribbon. 

I then die cut the hexagonal shape using the Stitched Nested Dies and adhered the ice cream on top that I punched from the DSP. This was affixed to the front of the card using Dimensionals. 

All in all this card took around 15 minutes to put together. This would also be a great card to make in bulk, and you could change the sentiment to suit the occasion.

Bamboo Beauty card

Today I am blog hopping with the Stampin' Birds and I've taken the opportunity to showcase the Bamboo Beauty stamp set from the new 2021 Annual Catalogue.

The simple stamping on this card front creates a clean and elegant look and this card could be used for all sort of different occasions.

To create the card I took an Evening Evergreen card base and layered it with a Soft Succulent panel. I then took a Basic White panel and stamped the bamboo stalks and leaves on it using Crumb Cake, Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent ink. The sentiment was stamped in Evening Evergreen and then then whole panel adhered to the front of the card.

Doing some simple stamping is a great way to get to know a new stamp set and to generate ideas of how to use it in your creations. This card was really relaxing to make and I'm pleased with the end result.

Color & Contour Thank You Card

Today I am blog hopping with the Stampin’ Birds. This is our monthly team blog hop where we showcase anything that we’ve been working on.

As I just received my pre order for the 2021-2022 annual catalogue this week, I couldn’t wait to crack open the new in colours and start using them. I also ordered the Color & Contour bundle with this beautiful set of dies. 

To make this very simple card I die cut a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock using the largest die, and two pieces of Basic White using the two largest dies (the bigger of the two formed the inside panel).

Onto the smaller piece of white, I stamped the flower and sentiment using Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia and Simply Succulent. I mounted this onto the Evening Evergreen panel and centred them both onto a Simply Succulent card base.

As the borders are quite fancy I decided to add just a few rhinestones to finish it off.

Hot Dog Birthday Card

 Today I am participating in a blog hop with the Stampin’ Birds.

Today’s card is a birthday card for my nephew. As he’s a twin I decided to put his name right on the front of the card so it was obvious who it was for ! (Don’t worry, his brother will get a personalised card too.)

I started with a standard A5 piece of Coastal Cabana card stock, scored it at 5.25cm from each end, then folded the sides in to create a gatefold card.  I then cut three pieces of Night of Navy measuring 9.9 x 4.3cm, and three pieces of Basic White measuring 9.3 x 3.7cm. I also cut two pieces of DSP from Playing With Patterns measuring 4.65 x 14.2cm to adhere to the front flaps.

I then stamped the three white panels with the Hot Dog Stamp set and the name with the Layered Alphabet. I coloured the dog in using Stampin’ Blends. 

Finally I assembled the card, adhering the top and bottom panel to the left flap and the middle panel to the right flap.

Christmas Card Challenge - Balloons and Streamers

This week’s theme is normally more associated with birthdays than Christmas, so it was a bit of a challenge to incorporate balloons into a Christmas card.

I decided that traditional colours would look more Christmassy so I started with a Shaded Spruce card base and layered a Real Red DSP mat on top.

Next I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped the sentiment from the retired Balloon Adventures stamp set at the bottom in black, then randomly stamped the streamers over it using Bumblebee ink. I added this panel to the card base.

Onto a piece of scrap white, I stamped and punched the balloons in Shaded Spruce and Real Red and attached a piece of linen thread behind. I then stamped, coloured and punched Santa from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and attached Santa and the balloons to the front of the card using Dimensionals. 

I was pretty happy with the end result and I think Santa looks pretty happy too!

Igloo Christmas card

Last week’s alphabet challenge was I for Igloo. I don’t have any igloo images in my stash so it took a while for this idea to form in my head, but once I knew what I wanted to do it was actually a very quick and easy make.

I cut a pile of white card scraps into rectangles then glued them onto a piece of black card stock in a brickwork pattern. I then cut the top into a curve and cut a circle in the middle using a 2 1/4 inch punch. I then immediately regretted punching the hole and put another piece of black card behind it to form the doorway. I layered this onto some silver card then adhered the whole thing to a Night of Navy card base.

On a piece of scrap white, I stamped the Eskimo image from the retired Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set in black, and the sentiment in Misty Moonlight. I coloured the Eskimo in with Stampin’ Blends, punched it out, and added it to the front of the card using Dimensionals. 

Finally I punched the sentiment with the banner punch and backed it with a piece of Night of Navy before mounting it onto the front of the card.

Hey Girlfriend card

Although I’m not hugely keen on colouring, I couldn’t resist buying this stamp set because I knew it would be perfect to make cards for my daughter and her friends.

To create this card I took a piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped the images of the girls and the sentiment in black Memento Ink. I then coloured in the images using Stampin’ Blends, trying to make them look like my daughter and her friend.

I took a piece of A4 card in Rococo Rose and cut it in half lengthways, then scored and folded to make a tent fold card base. I layered this with a piece of Purple Posy and added the stamped panel on top. 

I finally added a bit of bling to make it sparkle. I’m pleased to report the birthday girl was very happy with her card!
