For the Record Birthday Card

Today I am blog hopping with my team, the Stampin' Birds. 

The card uses a stamp set from the January - June 2022 mini catalogue. 'For the Record' will be retiring at the end of June, which is a real shame as I think this is a great stamp set for male cards (always tricky!), and all age groups. You can find the instructions to make this card below....

Supplies

Real Red cardstock – 12 x 14.8cm

Black cardstock – 14.2 x 9.9cm

White cardstock – 14.2 x 9.9cm

White cardstock – 13.6 x 9.3cm

Real Red stampin blend pen

Instructions

Fold and burnish the Real Red card base along the score line. Adhere the larger white panel inside.

Take the smaller white panel and stamp the sentiments and stripes following the picture for guidance or using your own design. (I recommend stamping ‘For The Record’ a bit lower than I did in the picture!)

Layer the stamped panel onto the black then adhere the whole panel to the front of the card.

Stamp the image of the record onto both the Red and White card scraps. Using the largest circle die, cut out the red record on the Cut and Emboss machine.

On the white record, colour the central heart using the Read Red pen, and either fussy cut or punch the centre circle out. Affix to the centre of the red record.

Stamp happy birthday sentiment onto Crushed Curry cardstock and punch out using the Classic Label punch.

Adhere the record and sentiment to the front of the card using foam pads.

We made this card at a recent Cake and Cards morning. This was a great card to practise both stamping and die cutting skills, and everyone was pleased with the result.

Mother's Day Card

Here is a Mother’s Day card we made at a recent card morning, using the 'Friendly Hello' stamp set from the recent Sale-a-bration catalogue. This stamp set is no longer available, but you could make this design using any floral stamp set and a sentiment of your choice.

 

Supplies

21 x 14.8cm piece of Pool Party cardstock

9.9 x 14.2cm piece of Basic White cardstock

7.4 x 7.4cm piece of Basic White cardstock

8 x 8cm piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock

Scrap of Fresh Freesia cardstock

Petal Pink ink pad

Instructions

1. Fold and burnish the Pool Party card base along the score line. Using Pool Party ink, randomly stamp flowers across the front of the card to create the background.
2. Clean the flower stamp and stamp on the Fresh Freesia card using the matching ink.
3. Take the white square and using the Petal Pink ink, stamp a sentiment in the centre. Use the Fresh Freesia and Pool Party ink to stamp the foliage around the edge. Adhere this piece to the Fresh Freesia square, then adhere the whole panel to the front of the card.
4. Fussy cut the Fresh Freesia flowers and adhere to the front of the card using dimensionals.
5. Take the large white rectangle, add a sentiment/stamping if you wish, and adhere to the inside of the card. You can easily adapt this card design to any occasion by changing the sentiment.

Hot Dog Valentine's Card

Today I am blog hopping with my team mates the Stampin' Birds. As February is traditionally the month of love, this one is about a very cute Valentine's card we made at a recent craft morning, using the retired Hot Dog stamp set.

Supplies

 21 x 14.8cm piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, scored at 10.5cm along the long side

14.2 x 9.9cm piece of Basic White cardstock

14.2 x 9.9cm piece of Night of Navy cardstock

14.2 x 6.3cm piece of Basic White cardstock

Scrap of Cherry Cobbler cardstock

Instructions

1.      Fold and burnish the Cherry Cobbler card base along the score line.

2.      Adhere the Night of Navy panel to the front of the card and the larger Basic White panel inside the card.

3.      Using the picture as a guide, stamp the images from the Hot Dog stamp set onto the long white panel in Memento black ink, and the small heart in Cherry Cobbler ink.

4.      Colour the images using the Stampin’ Blends. Adhere the panel to the front of the card lining it up with the top.

5.      Stamp the sentiment onto the scrap of white card using Night of Navy ink. Punch it out using the Tailored Tag punch.

6.      Punch another Tailored Tag from the Cherry Cobbler scrap. Cut it in half horizontally and adhere it behind the sentiment to create a border top and bottom.

7. Adhere the sentiment to the front of the card using dimensionals.

We had a lot of fun colouring and blending the dogs to give them each a little bit of a different personality. A perfect card for a dog lover!

Sweet Strawberry Card

Good morning! Today I am hopping with my team, the Stampin' Birds.

After a couple of taster sessions last year, I held my first regular Card Making and Cake morning a couple of weeks ago (very important not to confuse this with Cake Making, which I am rubbish at). The majority of the attendees are beginners so I have been trying to design cards which are fairly straightforward to put together but which will gradually increase their skill level as the months go on. This is one of the cards we made, incorporating stamping, stamping off, punching and a fun book fold design.

Sadly the DSP that I used is no longer available, but this card could easily be recreated by stamping your own DSP or using some of the Brights DSP.

Supplies

29.6 x 10.5cm piece Pacific Point cardstock, scored at 11.5cm and 14.8cm on the long edge

9.9 x 10.9cm piece Basic White cardstock x 2

9.9 x 2.7cm piece Sweet Strawberry DSP

Scrap of Pacific Point cardstock

Scrap of Basic White cardstock

Scrap of Sweet Strawberry DSP

Granny Apple Green ink pad

Instructions

Take one piece of white cardstock and stamp your sentiment in the top left corner using Poppy Parade ink. Next, using Granny Apple Green ink, create a background of leaves using the stamping off technique.

Using the scrap of white cardstock, stamp two strawberries using Poppy Parade ink. The middle of the strawberry should be stamped using the stamping off technique to make it lighter in colour. Do the same with two leaves and the Granny Apple Green ink.

With the strawberry punch, punch out the strawberries and leaves.

Punch a 2.25 inch circle from the scrap of DSP.

Punch a 2.5 inch circle from the scrap of Pacific Point. Your card is now ready for assembly.

Fold and burnish the base card along the score lines, then add glue inside the card between the two score lines to create the book fold effect.

Using the above picture as a guide, adhere the stamped panel and the DSP to the front of the card.

Adhere the DSP circle and the strawberries to the Pacific Point circle, then attach the whole thing to the front of the card using Dimensionals.

Finally take the other white panel, stamp a sentiment on it if you wish, and glue it inside the card.

The sentiment could easily be changed to make a bright and cheerful card for any occasion.

Rip and Flip Joy Card

 This month's card really has to be a Christmas card - only four weeks to go until the big day! I designed this card for a workshop - it really is a quick and easy make, and a great way to show off both sides of your DSP.

Supplies

A5 base card in Basic White

9.9 x 14.2cm piece Cherry Cobbler cardstock

Tidings of Christmas DSP 9.9cm wide and at least 15cm long

Piece of white scrap card

Ribbon bow

 

Equipment

Joy to the World stamp set

Soft Succulent ink pad

Cherry Cobbler ink pad

Glue

Foam dimensional pads

Instructions

1.     Fold the base card in half and burnish along the score line.

2.     Adhere the piece of Cherry Cobbler centrally to the front of the card.

3.     Take the piece of DSP and carefully tear roughly in half. Flip one piece over and adhere both pieces to the front of the card, using the picture as a guide. You can tear higher or lower than the half way point, to give you different effects – experiment until you are happy with it.

4.     Next, using the Joy to the World stamp set, stamp the wreath image in Soft Succulent onto the piece of scrap card.

5.     Using Cherry Cobbler ink, stamp berries around the wreath, and the word ‘Joy’ in the centre.

6.     Using the 2.5 inch circle punch, cut out the wreath making sure the image is centralised in the circle.

7.     Adhere the wreath to the front of the card using dimensionals.

8.     Add a bow using glue dots.

A5 base card in Petal Pink

9.9 x 14.2cm piece of Ice Cream Corner DSP

9.9 x 14.2cm piece Basic White cardstock

9.9 x 2.5cm piece Basic White cardstock

1.75 inch punched circle in Blackberry Bliss

Equipment

Sweet Ice Cream stamp set

Petal Pink ink pad

Blackberry Bliss ink pad

Cinnamon Cider ink pad

Glue/dimensionals/glue pads

Instructions

1.     Take the smaller piece of white card and using the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set stamp three ice lollies or ice creams across the centre.

2.      Using the Petal Pink ink pad, stamp your choice of sentiment onto the white circle and then glue it to the larger Blackberry Bliss circle.

3.      Fold the card base along the score line and glue the DSP to the front (the paper is double sided so choose your favourite design)

4.      Glue the panel with the lollies/ice creams on to the top portion of the card. If you wish, use a sponge dauber to add some colour to the edge of the white card before gluing it down.

5.      Using the dimensionals, adhere the sentiment to the front of the card overlapping the lollies.

6.      Tie a bow in the ribbon and adhere to the sentiment using glue dots.

7.      Finally take the larger white panel, stamp a sentiment on it if you wish, and glue it inside the card.

I designed this card for a recent card making workshop, focusing on the technique of stamping. This was my first workshop and it was great fun to plan and run.

Pennant birthday card

It's been a busy summer with not a lot of crafting time so it's been really nice to get back in the craft room this week. This month's card is for a young man who is hitting double digits, so it needed to be fun and young, but not too babyish!

To create this card I cut an A4 piece of Daffodil Yellow cardstock lengthwise and folded in half to create the card base.

I covered the front with matching Daffodil Yellow DSP and stamped 'You are Amazing' directly onto the DSP using Misty Moonlight ink.

Using the Pennant Builder punch (retired) I punched four white triangles with matching pennants in Mango Melody, Misty Moonlight, Highland Heather and Coastal Cabana DSP. I hand penned the number ten in the two centre pennants and adhered them to the front of the card to form the bunting effect.

Using a scrap of Basic White I stamped the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment in Bermuda Bay and punched it out using the rectangular postage punch. I then created a border by punching two further postage shapes in Bermuda Bay DSP. This was then adhered to the front of the card using Dimensionals.
